Probably due to the impact of movies & books on me, I always
wanted to:
1. Live alone:
This was possible in Mysore, Mangalore, Bangalore,
and finally US. No one to bug me, no room mate to speak with, just do whatever
I feel doing at home - cooking, live without cooking, read books, watch movies,
walk around in boxers etc. I feel loneliness is an addiction. I just cannot engage
or tolerate any unknown person or an acquaintance as my roommate.
2. Have a big & quality TV:
TV has been integral part of my life ever since I was
a kid. At first, we had a Dynora color TV, which lived with us for nearly 16
years and worked without any minor issue.
When I setup a family in US, bought a 55-inch LG TV
(UHD). I had the TV playing continuously from the time I get up till I fall
asleep, have it playing something even when I am not watching it, while doing
some house hold chores like cooking, cleaning, laundry.
I watched many movies where the actor would be alone
in a house with TV playing in background, good couch with a table
beside it, while the actor is cooking something in the kitchen.
3.
Have a good sound system:
Though, I was not able to buy a big sound system,
bought a small but good Bose sound bar, which was really good in terms of sound
amplification. Now, without the sound bar, can’t watch normal TV also. I
realized yet again that quality comes with paying more money and buying a
premium brand’s product.
4.
Have some exercise equipment at home:
I bought myself an elliptical machine so that I can
work at home while watching TV. It
helped me immensely in burning some calories and do some cardio.
5.
Own a car:
Thanks to my Subaru Forester. That has been my companion for my absurd and abrupt short & long trips. Since I was alone, I can just go for a long drive whenever I want to. Just take the car keys, leave at 4 AM, fill up the gas and go for a drive of 14 hrs in a day. Oh man. That was good! I must admit. I had tears rolled up in my eyes when I sold it.

When I was in India, I did not get a chance to fulfill
the last four desires, but were accomplished because of my stay in US.
So now, there is some change again. Lets see what’s
in store for me ahead.
From the movie Forest Gump: “My momma always said,
‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.’”
